Trailer for creepy Kickstarter movie campaign ‘He Took His Skin Off For Me’

He Took His Skin Off For Me is a short story written by Maria Hummer about a man who is so devoted to his lover, he takes off his skin at her request. Now to become a short film directed by Ben Aston, He Took His Skin Off For Me is a gruesome display of “it seemed like a good idea at the time”, as our lady love decides that she doesn’t want all of the maintenance of a skinless boyfriend. Bitches be trippin’, amirite?

As you can see, Aston & Co.’s Kickstarter campaign is to fund the practical SFX he wants to use for the film – shunning CGI completely. This is amazing, as those of us who came up watching horror films of the 70s and 80s can attest, nothing beats the real(ish)-deal of SFX in cinematic storytelling. Plus, they’re leaning on the talents of Colin Arthur, assistant to the legendary SFX master Ray Harryhausen and creator of the beloved Falcor. The crew is doing this for a meager £7,000 (around $10,600 U.S.), and have raised almost half that at the time of this writing, with 19 days to go. It’s an interesting project, so here’s to hoping they meet the goal and we’ll see this inventive story released.
